Why are step-through eBikes not just for girls?

Step-through frames were originally invented BITD when women pretty much had to wear skirts to cover their legs when seen in public.

Technically, step-through bikes are poorer option. For the same level of engineering, a step-through frame is either heavier, flexier or both than compared to a traditional diamond frame.

However, the open frame does mean they’re easier to get on and off. Anyone who prefers that over performance is entirely free to choose a bike with a step-through frame.
Male/female doesn’t really matter.
